About this forum
Center Console Forum opened in November 2025 for people who own or are shopping for a center console fishing boat between about 18 and 30 feet, and who want answers from other owners instead of a dealer's sales floor.
That covers Boston Whaler Outrages and Dauntlesses, Grady-White Fishermen and Canyons, Robalo, Sea Hunt, Scout, Sportsman, Yellowfin, Key West, Pathfinder and anything else with a console in the middle you can walk around. Single outboards and twins, Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki. Gulf, Atlantic, a few of us on the Pacific.
It is run by Renee C., who posts as mod_renee_c. Renee wrote service tickets for nineteen years at a Yamaha outboard dealer in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and now does part time parts orders for a marine electronics installer. She runs a 2017 Scout 215 XSF with an F150 out of Shem Creek and fishes the nearshore reefs off Charleston when it's flat. She reads the contact mailbox herself and answers slower in spring when everybody launches at once.
What it costs
The server is about ten dollars a month and the domain was twelve for the year. Renee pays both. No advertising on any page, no affiliate codes in links, and nobody has paid for a thread or a place in one. If that ever changes it goes on this page first.
House rules
- First line of a question: year, make, model, length and what's on the transom. Say whether it lives in a wet slip, on a lift, in dry stack or on a trailer.
- Buying threads get real numbers. A mod will ask if they're missing and most people fill them in.
- No selling boats in threads. There's no classifieds board, on purpose. Linking a public listing to make a point about price is fine.
- If you work for a dealer, a yard, a lender, an insurer, a transport company, or you survey boats for money, say so in the post where it matters.
- Safety answers get backed up with a source when one exists. "my buddy runs 40 miles out in a 19" is not a source.
- Be decent. Yamaha people and Mercury people have to share the same pages.
- Accounts are by email request until the spam settles.
What this is not
Not a dealer, not a broker, not a surveyor's report and not a navigation source. Before you trust a member's bar crossing advice or a torque spec, check it against your chart, your manual and the Coast Guard.
