ok, doors are open. this is a forum for center console fishing boats, roughly 18 to 30 feet, the kind people trailer to a ramp or keep on a lift and run offshore when the weather lets them. Whaler, Grady, Robalo, Sea Hunt, Scout, Sportsman, Yellowfin, Key West, Pathfinder, whatever. if it has a console in the middle and you can walk all the way around it, you belong here.

there are three boards. Center console talk is the boat and the water: hulls, T-tops, how far you run, what the Gulf did to you last weekend. Outboards, electronics and care is everything you pay a mechanic for, plus bottom paint and salt. Buying and auctions is for what you paid, where the boat came from, and what the survey said.

a little about me, since i'm the one who'll be deleting your spam. i wrote service tickets at a Yamaha dealer in Mount Pleasant for nineteen years. that means i have heard every version of "it was running fine when i parked it" there is. i run a 2017 Scout 215 XSF with an F150 out of Shem Creek and i fish the nearshore reefs when it's flat, which in november is about twice.

rules, short version. first line of a question gets the year, make, model, length and what is hanging off the transom. buying threads get real numbers. nobody sells a boat inside a thread. if you work at a dealer, a yard, a lender, an insurer, a transport company or you survey boats for money, you say so in the post where it matters. that last one is not optional and i will add the note myself if you forget.

accounts are by email request for now. write in with your boat and your home port. the long version of all this is on the about page. renee

signed up from Galveston. 2015 Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 with twin F150s, 2,100 hours on each and counting.

one thing to add to the rules if you're taking requests. make people say whether the boat lives in the water or on a trailer. a boat that sits in a slip in Annapolis all summer and a boat that gets dunked and flushed twice a week in Texas are two different animals for bottom paint, anodes, everything. half the arguments on the big boat sites are people not knowing which one the other guy has.

added. wet slip, lift, dry stack or trailer goes in the first line now too. i won't edit anybody's post over it, i'll just ask.

we're at 38 accounts in two days, which is more than i expected for november. at least one of you is an accredited surveyor and two of you have wrenched on outboards for a living, so the answers here are going to be better than this place deserves this early. somebody also asked if the buying board allows auction and repo stories. yes, as long as you put the numbers in and you aren't the one selling.

winter is when people shop for boats and boat shows start in january. read the buying board before you spend money.
